Zoustar Dreams can continue good run at Ripon

Zoustar Dreams is enjoying an excellent season for Ed Dunlop and can add to her growing tally in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Pro Fillies’ Handicap at Ripon on Monday.

Mixed form in maiden and novice company saw the three-year-old kick off life in handicaps off a mark in the mid-60s and three uninspiring efforts saw that fall to 57 by the end of May.

That drop in the weights coupled with the application of cheekpieces saw her comfortably break her duck at Catterick and she has not looked back, adding further victories at Lingfield and Nottingham with a perfectly respectable effort at Newmarket sandwiched in between.

She actually looked better than ever when dropped back to this 1000m trip last time out, so while she is now on a career-high mark of 71, there is every chance she has not reached her ceiling just yet.

Veteran sprinter Commanche Falls has been set some difficult tests of late and looks to have a bit less on his plate in the Wilmot-Smith Memorial Handicap.

The nine-year-old counts a course and distance win among his 12 career victories and while he is not the force he once was, he proved the fire still burns by finishing second twice in Bahrain during the winter.

He has struggled against younger legs in the Scottish Stewards’ Cup at Hamilton and the Sky Bet Dash at York the last twice but now has his sights lowered slightly by Michael Dods, who has been firing in the winners in the last couple of weeks.

Boleto has been a bit disappointing since making a winning debut but may reward those who keep the faith in the Weatherbys VAT Services Nursery at Nottingham.

The Wootton Bassett colt looked another exciting juvenile for Clive Cox after making a successful start to his career at Pontefract in early June, overcoming clear signs of his inexperience to win a shade cosily.

It was no great surprise that he came up short after being thrown in at the deep end in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot, but much better was expected on his handicap debut at York a few weeks ago and after racing keenly he again faltered late on.

William Haggas’ Yimmna should take all the beating in the Weatherbys Digital Solutions Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

In true Haggas style the Siyouni filly made a pleasing introduction while looking a bit green but she knew a lot more a couple of weeks later at Newmarket.

She was second in a three-runner race but the winner, Starlight Lass, looks decent and has a rating of 87 so Yimmna will be unfortunate to bump into something as good again.

Windsor punters are advised to follow the Billy Loughnane and Ian Williams axis with Chilly Breeze in the Talk Sport Radio Handicap.

When the pair team up they have a very healthy 20 per cent strike rate, and that is over a mammoth 180 rides, so a not insignificant number.

Chilly Breeze was second 11 days ago at Doncaster, the first time he had shown any worthwhile form since leaving David Evans but if Williams has found the key to him, he could do some damage. – Press Association
