Two Peter titans in action at Turffontein

Trainer Tony Peter is sending out a steady stream of winners and the run can continue at Turffontein on Saturday when they race on the Standside track.

He has an interesting hand in Race 7, a MR 100 Handicap over 1160m where he sends out two runners, Titan Of The Turf and Vibe SA.

The former has only raced three times but he looks to be a highly talented performer. The son of William Longsword made his debut last season as a two-year-old and won on debut, beating Fiery Rose by 2.75 lengths over this course and distance.

Peter thought highly enough of this youngster to send him off to Durban to contest the Grade 2 Umkhomazi Stakes over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville where he finished a 0.40-length third behind Zelatoris.

We did not see him again until March this year when he came out on a race over 1200m on the Vaal Classic track where he was supported in the betting to beat Speedman, going off at 33-10. Unfortunately, he was bumped at the start and never got into the race.

He was gelded a few days after that race and while he might have his foibles, Titan Of The Turf must be loaded with talent. What is noteworthy is that Peter has engaged Craig Zackey to take the ride so keep a keen eye on the betting.

Vibe SA was very frustrating to follow earlier in his career, but he is now a five-time winner and might have a few more in his tank. The five-year-old gelding has been very unreliable of late but fought on gamely for a solid victory last time out over this course and distance a few weeks ago.

He meets many of those rivals again but only picked up a three-point penalty for that success, so may well follow up. Kyle Strydom rides.
