Snaith’s magic to roll on at Durbanville

In 23 days time the South African horseracing season comes to an end and all horses turn one year older.

As a result, it comes as no surprise to see a number of two-year-olds coming out to take on their elders – and winning.

The same could well happen on the eight-race card at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Tuesday when One Magic lines up in Race 7, a Class 5 Handicap over 1250m.

This son of One World has only had one outing, winning that Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1000m comfortably by 1.75 lengths at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

Strangely, this Justn Snaith-trained runner did not find much betting support in that debut performance. He opened up at around 22-10 and drifted to go off at 9-2.

Much of the money in that race was for Lucinda Woodruff-trained My Bonny Noy, who finished runner-up in that race while Aldo Domeyer guided One Magic to victory.

The money for the second horse was not misplaced as My Bonny Boy was backed into 4-10 in his next race which was over 1000m at Durbanville, which he narrowly got up to win, overcoming first-timer Landman by 0.30 lengths.

However, the third-placed runner was a further 6.50 lengths back so that form line could be pretty strong.

Craig Zackey will be taking the ride this time on One Magic, and they will jump from draw No 6. Although Durbanville does not always suit every horse and it could be a tough ask for a novice, One Magic could have just found the right race and looks to be banker in all bets.
