Snaith seeks sweet success with R&R

One of the sweetest pleasures during every trip to Mozambique is to indulge in a few R&Rs.

For those who don’t know, it’s a generous measure of the local rum-based drink called Tipo Tinto mixed with Morango, a strawberry-flavoured cold drink, and lots of ice.

Those who have had the pleasure will know it is sweet in every sense.

Today at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth bettors should experience the sweet taste of success with Rabdan and Rachettu in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1000m.

The two Justin Snaith inmates could give the champion trainer an early swinger on the day.

The penny seems to have dropped for Rabdan during his third outing when racing over 1200m after a break. He was always in touch but his glass emptied out when it mattered.

Dropping back to 1000m and stripping fitter, Andrew Fortune should have every chance of getting the Pomodoro juvenile across the line first.

Rachettu, a three-year-old Vercingetorix gelding, gets his turn to buy a round after perhaps one too many free drinks.

In six outings, he has placed just twice, but he has attracted a lot of betting support.

Three runs back he was sent off at 28-10 while he was even shorter at 18-10 in his penultimate. Last time out he jumped at 7-1 and looked a winner before some argy bargy saw him lose focus after the barman called last round.

In Race 8, a Middle Stakes over 1000m, Demanding Dave demands respect.

The Horizon gelding completed a hat-trick over this course and distance under Andrew Fortune before being given a rest.

His comeback run, with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle, was full of promise as he ran just 1.30-lengths behind Dance Variety despite casting a show and being involved in a bit of a bar brawl.

With Fortune back aboard, Mike Stewart’s three-year-old looks set to return to winning ways.
