Prinsloo’s charge to coast home at Scottsville

Coast Of The Sun was carded as a reserve runner in last Saturday’s Grade 1 World Pool Moment Of The Day Premiers Champion Stakes at Hollywoodbets Greyville but failed to get into the final field.

However, on Wednesday at Hollywoodbets Scottsville the Tienie Prinsloo-trained two-year-old (for another three days) will drop significantly in class and will line up in Race 6, a Class 4 Handicap over 1400m.

The three-year-old son of Hawwaam has only raced twice, running on powerfully on debut from No 3 draw over 1200m at Greyville to finish a 2.40-length third behind Quest Of Valor on debut, and following up with a 0.80-length victory over Benny And Paul in his second outing which was over 1400m at the same track.

Both of those form lines have worked out well with three runners in the first event going on to win their next starts and two in the second race achieving the same feat.

While he produced devasting finishing bursts in both races, not everything went his way, and he does appear to be a tricky ride.

Mickaëlle Michel rode him in both races and was allowed to claim her 1.5kg allowance but she has returned to France for the next few months, and Tristan Godden will take the ride on this occasion.

Coast Of The Sun is beautifully bred as his dam is Alboran Sea, winner of two Grade 1 races, included the 2105 Cape Flying Handicap in which she beat Captain Of All in a tight finish.

While he certainly appears to be a well above-average horse, there are two concerns. This will be the first time Coast Of The Sun will contest a handicap and take on older horses. It is his first run at Scottsville, which could be a concern, nevertheless, based on the manner in which races, he should be suited to the longer run-in at this course.

He does look worth following and looks to be a banker in all bets.
