Point to be made at Salisbury

Storming Point can open his account for Gary and Josh Moore in the Madar Corporation EBF Maiden Stakes at Salisbury on Tuesday.

The son of Blue Point has been placed on each of his three starts so far and has just been unfortunate to bump into some useful types.

First time out at Newbury last October he was beaten a short head by Needle Match, who has since run in the Greenham Stakes and the 2000 Guineas and is rated 106, while his return this year was a decent third over 1400m at Kempton.

He was beaten by a 1-4 favourite when upped to 1600m at Windsor on his most recent appearance and there should be even more to come now he tackles 2000m for the first time.

Silver Wraith is backed to put a rare blip behind her in the Whitsbury Manor Stud Supporting Inspire Foundation Handicap.

Emma Lavelle’s filly has largely been a model of consistency since going handicapping and kicked off the new season as she finished the last by winning at Bath.

She was second when bidding for the hat-trick on the same track in May, but then faded after racing enthusiastically over a stiff 1000m at Sandown.

If that exuberance can be harnessed at Salisbury, she may well bounce back.

Flying Pirate is expected to double his tally in the Juddmonte EBF Restricted Novice Stakes.

Eve Johnston Houghton’s Blackbeard colt made a winning start to his career over this course and distance three weeks ago, notably in the same race won by his trainer’s stable star Zavateri last season.

The latter went on to win the July Stakes, the Vintage Stakes and the National Stakes before the end of his juvenile campaign and while Flying Pirate has some way to go to reach those heights, he did well to beat the more experienced favourite on debut despite running green.

He can follow up before having his sights raised in due course.

Musselburgh punters are advised to put their faith in Haayimm, who goes in the Join Racing TV Now Handicap.

The gelded son of Gleneagles has won once and been placed twice in three outings in maiden and novice company and his neck defeat to Conclave on his latest attempt at Hamilton reads pretty well, with the winner beaten just over two lengths in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot subsequently.

Haayimm makes his handicap debut off a mark of 95, which may well underestimate his ability.

King Of War can make it two wins in little over a week at Brighton in the Sheephaven Bay And Tipsytipsters Remembering Boony Handicap.

Michael Wigham’s runner is a regular at the seaside venue and has won here four times in all.

Given he fairly bolted up from the front last week, it is no surprise he is turned out quickly under a 4lb penalty and he is difficult to oppose.

Dark Whisper is rated the best bet of the evening at Ffos Las as he looks to make it third time lucky in the West Wales Properties Pembrokeshire Maiden Stakes, while jumps fans at Stratford should put their faith in Redbarn.

Dan Skelton’s point-to-point recruit won comfortably on her bumper debut at Worcester and the Sunday 12th July Is Family Day Mares’ National Hunt Flat Race looks an excellent opportunity for her to strike gold again. – Press Association
