Astracornus looks an ace pick at Yarmouth

David Menuisier emerged from a quiet spell just in time for his wedding a few weeks ago and is back among the winners.

The popular Pulborough-based Frenchman runs Astracornus in the AKS Skip Hire Services Handicap at Yarmouth on Monday, where the Lady Blyth-owned gelding should appreciate going up in trip.

A winner over 2000m in June, he was just touched off from 6lb higher next time and may have found the ground too quick at Goodwood when fourth after that. Tom Marquand looks a positive booking.

Methgal is another example of Dylan Cunha’s training skills. Having joined the South African when rated 58, he is now off a mark of 70 and though he was a beaten odds-on favourite last time out, he was up against a well-handicapped rival and carrying a penalty.

He can revert to winning ways in the First Furnishings Handicap in the hands of Marco Ghiani.

Karl Burke’s Samra Green can get back on the right track in the British Stallion Stud EBF Fillies’ Handicap at Musselburgh.

After impressing on debut last year she was immediately stepped up to the Rockfel Stakes where she finished seventh behind Zanthos.

She reappeared in April when a respectable second to Bellarchi and was then off until the St Leger meeting, where she was eased after being bumped in what was a competitive event. This should be easier.

Owen Burrows must be frustrated he has not been able to get Wadooda back out until the Unibet Supports Safer Gambling Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Kempton. She ran a blinder on her first outing last October when second to a rather notable winner in Act Of Kindness.

That particular Godolphin filly is out of the mare Shambolic, who hit the headlines last week when her Frankel yearling was bought by Coolmore for 4,000,000 guineas.

Burrows would have been hoping to have a profitable summer with his Dubawi filly, the first foal out of a dam who is a half-sister to Group One winners Benbatl and Elmalka.

Wadooda has obviously had an issue or two, but can make up for lost time and might be a name to make a note of if she stays in training next year.

Lady Bamford would not have been dreaming of winning a minor Newcastle contest at the fourth time of asking when sending her Group Two-winning mare Tropbeau to Frankel.

However, breeding is not an exact science and in three outings it is pretty clear Tropbien is not going to live up to his pedigree. He can, though, get off the mark in the Download The At The Races App Novice Stakes at Gosforth Park, having improved marginally with each start. – Press Association
