Tag And Release to defy weight disadvantage in Somerset 1200

Racing is at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Sunday and the feature, the Listed Somerset 1200 for juveniles in Race 7, revolves around a rematch between Tag And Release and Shezaripper.

Greg Ennion-trained Tag And Release earned favouritism after winning the Grade 3 Winter Nursery last start and the Canford Cliffs colt sets the benchmark on current form, but it is likely to be little between them at the weights.

Shezaripper, a daughter of Rafeef trained by James Crawford, was beaten only 0.75 lengths that day yet meets her conqueror on 3kg better terms. On paper, that swing should be enough to tilt the scales in her favour but Corne Orffer-ridden Tag And Release probably won easier than the distance indicated.

Mickaëlle Michel, hot off her Grade 1 victory aboard Star Major in the Grade 1 Daily News 2000 at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, will be aboard Shezaripper.

They are not the only ones in it and as we have seen so often, these two-year-olds improve at different rates so the race could prove a lot more competitive.
