TAB WEEKEND SOCCER HIGHLIGHTS: 23 – 25 OCTOBER 2026

R200,000  CARRYOVER SOCCER 10 POOL THIS FRIDAY

TAB soccer customers will lack for nothing this weekend, both in terms of chances to win piles of lovely cash and top-drawer football action. This Friday night’s R200,000 carryover Soccer 10 includes the home legs of CAF Champions League clashes for Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, as well as the English Premier League match between Ipswich Town and Notts Forest.

PIRATES AND SUNDOWNS LOOK BANKER BETS TO WIN

Both Pirates and Sundowns both look banker bets to win in the carryover Soccer10, which should total over R2 million. That’s as long as both teams focus on the job at hand and don’t fall prey to overconfidence.

Pirates have the easier task of the two. They take on Namibia’s African Stars at the Orlando Amstel Arena and go into the clash with a 1-0 advantage from the away leg last weekend. Pirates have made an excellent start to the new season under Abdeslam Ouaddou. They did lose to Sundowns in the MTN8 final, but never really got into top gear in that match and there was little disgrace in losing to one of the best teams in Africa.

The Buccaneers currently trail log-leaders Sundowns by only a point in the Betway Premiership table, but have a game in hand and are well placed to retain the league title they won last season for the first time in 14 years.

Sundowns, the reigning African champions, haver a tougher task tonight against Angola’s Wiliete, who held them to a goalless draw in the first leg of their final Champions League qualifier.

There’s no doubt that Sundowns were not at their best in Angola and with home advantage and a better-quality team in every respect, it will be a real shock if they don’t crush Wiliete at Loftus Stadium.

The Ipswich-Notts Forest clash could go either way which is reflected by the betting (Ipswich 3.1 to win, Forest 2.31 and the draw 3.55). Newly promoted Ipswich are pretty organised under manager Gary O’Neil and have three EPL victories to their credit already this season, whereas Forest are wallowing one from both with just five points to show from their first seven league games.

Forest, however, looked good and held their own against reigning champs Arsenal for a long time last weekend before a late deflected goal by Noni Madueke saw then suffer their third successive defeat. For our money if Forest can deliver a similar performance against Ipswich they will go home with all three points.

CARRICK’S BEST MOVE IS TO SIDELINE FERNANDEZ

The game that will grab the interest of most football fans this weekend is the Manchester United-Bournemouth clash at Old Trafford on Sunday.

United with only one league victory this season and a crushing 4-1 defeat by Como in a Champions League game midweek are back in the mire and struggling – pretty familiar territory for the club in recent years.

Team captain Bruno Fernandez slated manager Michael Carrick’s tactics in a TV interview after the Como defeat and the real point of interest will be if Carrick drops Fernandez from the squad on Sunday. That would be the right move by Carrick, who really has his back to the wall with the current group of players, several of who are in the last year of their contracts and others who wanted out before the season started.

Victories for Chelsea and Atletico Madrid look the top banker bets for Saturday and recommended bankers for Sunday are away wins for Brentford and Juventus.
