From next week club soccer moves to the sidelines for two weekends to accommodate an international window, so TAB football customers need to make the most of this weekend, which is laden with intriguing games from the top leagues and millions of rand in added cash to selected pools.

The action starts this Friday night with the first of three R200,000-added Soccer 10s through the weekend. Saturday is headlined by a guaranteed R16-million Soccer 13 Jackpot pool in the event of one outright winner. And there’s also a cash-boosted Soccer 6 with a super set of matches. All in all a grand weekend packed with chances to win bundles of cash with TAB!
The last weekend before an extensive international break is always vital for clubs on a bad run and there’s no shortage of those currently. In the English Premier League (EPL) alone Aston Villa, Coventry, Fulham and Spurs are all without a league victory after four rounds of matches.
And in the local Betway Premiership Richards Bay and Gallants have played six games apiece this season without success and Siwelele are still winless after seven.
For struggling teams another defeat heading into an international window simply deepens the doom and gloom, and makes it that much more difficult to utilise the break to improve performance.
Unfortunately for Spurs and Villa they meet in London in the early EPL match this Saturday, so only one of them can go into the international break off a win.
There was some light for Villa midweek when they beat Coventry 3-1 away in a League Cup clash, whereas Spurs sank deeper into depression by losing 3-1 to Liverpool in the same competition.
MANAGERS UNDER PRESSURE AFTER 4 EPL GAMES
Spurs have two points from their opening four matches and Villa just one. It is a worrying time for both managers – Roberto de Zerbi and Unai Emery respectively – and there’s already talk about De Zerbi getting sacked.
What’s even worse for Spurs and Coventry is that they are yet to score a league goal this season, with Spurs conceding five and Coventry 10.
Given that Spurs spent over 300-million Pounds in the transfer window, it’s an unexpectedly dreadful start and the wolves will bay louder if they fail to get three points against Villa, whose supporters can hardly blame Emery. He lost the core of last season’s team in the off season – Rogers, Konsa, Watkins, Malen, Tielemans and Martinez all headed off into the sunset – and now has to build a new Villa team from virtually scratch.
COVENTRY NEED TO BREAK LOSING SEQUENCE
Coventry have been beaten in all four league games and dressing-room confidence has been further eroded by the midweek League Cup loss. And to make it all worse Ipswich and Hull City, who finished second and sixth behind them in the Championship last season, are faring better than them in the top flight.
Coventry are away at Nottingham Forest in the late game on Saturday and are the 5.4-1 underdogs, but this is a game they have to win or they will be bang on track for a quick return to the Championship.
The other manager under pressure is former Real Madrid boss Alvaro Arbeloa, who the bookies have installed as favourite to be the first coach fired in the EPL this season.
Fulham did at least get an away draw at Liverpool last time out and have good prospects of beating Manchester United in London on Sunday.
PSL CHAMPIONS PIRATES LOOK A BANKER BET
In the local Betway Premiership, champions Orlando Pirates go for their sixth win in seven league games on Sunday, when they play away to Marumo Gallants. The game at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace is a first for Gallants’ new coach Ronnie Kanalelo, who has a thankless task and is set to kick off with a loss.
Victory will put Pirates one point behind log-leaders Sundowns with a game in hand.
Sundowns play at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup against Asian champions Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia, whose side includes England international Ivan Toney. Home-ground advantage and the altitude should be in Sundowns’ favour.
For tonight’s cash-added Soccer 10 home wins for Gent, Monaco and Bristol City all look potential bankers. Saturday’s cash-added Soccer 10 is loaded with challenging games, but Bologna should win at home against Torino in the opener. Everton and Newcastle are other games likely to end in home wins and we will gamble on Coventry coming right and beating Notts Forest away.
Sunday’s R200,000-boosted Soccer 10 looks easier and potential bankers are away victories for Como and Pirates with home wins for Leeds and Manchester City.

M1 Groningen vs PEC Zwolle: There were several mega Soccer 10 payouts last weekend, including a R1.8-million payday for one sharp TAB football customer, and this R200,000-added pool could also pay big bucks. Eredivisie clash in Holland kicks it off and Groningen are ninth with eight points, four more than Zwolle in 16th. M2 Albacete vs Cordoba: LaLiga 2 clash. Albacete winless in last six games and Cordoba have lost three in a row. Albacete won last meeting 2-1 away in May. Cordoba are 20th with three points, one more than Albacete after five games.
M3 AC Monza vs Sassuolo: Sassuolo unbeaten in last four games;, whereas Monza have lost three of last five. Sassuolo ninth in Serie A with seven points, while Monza are 18th with one point after four games.
M4 Derry City vs Galway United: Irish Premier League. Derry have won two in a row and Galway are unbeaten in nine of last 10. Derry fifth in table with 37 points and Galway seventh with 34. Galway won last meeting 2-1 in June, their sixth win to Derry’s four in last 15 clashes.
M5 Gent vs Standard Liege: Gent unbeaten in last 10 games and in second place in Belgian’s top flight, five points ahead of sixth-placed Liege. Gent won last meeting 4-0 away and have 12 wins to Liege’s one in last 15 clashes.
M6 Monaco vs Lens: Monaco unbeaten in last six games and Lens have won won five of last 10. Monaco second in France’s Ligue 1 with 10 points, six more than Lens in 10th. Monaco won last meeting 3-2 away.
M7 Brentford vs Chelsea: Brentford unbeaten in last seven games and Chelsea have won six of last nine. Chelsea fifth on EPL log with seven points, one ahead of Brentford in sixth. Chelsea won last meeting 2-0 but were at home.
M8 Bristol City vs Watford: English Championship. Bristol have won three of last four games and Watford have lost four of last six. Bristol are 11th with 10 points, two more than Watford in 17th. Watford won last meeting 2-1 away in February.
M9 Espanyol vs Elche: Espanyol have won two of five league games this season and are eighth in LaLiga with seven points, five ahead of Elche, winless in their last five league matches but beaten only 3-2 by Real Madrid midweek. Last meeting ended in 2-2.
M10 New York City vs New York RB: Derby clash in the USA. City have lost once in last five MLS games, while Red Bulls got back on the winning path last time. City are eighth in the Eastern Conference and two points ahead of Red Bulls. Last meeting ended 1-1.
Saturday 19 September – S10 V3
M1 Bologna vs Torino: The pick of Saturday’s three Soccer 10 bets and a R200,000 add-in bonus from TAB adds to the pool’s appeal. Bologna winless in last four games and Torino have won five of last 10. Torino 14th in Serie A with three points, one more than Bologna who won the last meeting between them 2-1 away in February.
M2 Mamelodi Sundowns vs Al Ahli SFC: Sundowns unbeaten in last six games and Al Ahli (Saudi Arabia) have won six of last nine. Teams meet for first time in FIFA Intercontinental Cup at Loftus Versfeld.
M3 Richards Bay vs Sekhukhune United: Richards Bay winless in last seven games and Sekhukhune in last three league matches. Sekhukhune are sixth in Betway Premiership with eight points, five ahead of Richards Bay in 14th. Last clash ended 1-1 in May.
M4 Udinese vs Cagliari: Udinese have one win from four Serie A games this term, whereas Cagliari already have three wins to their credit. Udinese won last meeting 2-0 away.
M5 Eintracht Frankfurt vs Freiburg: Frankfurt have won six of last nine games and beat Freiburg 2-0 in March. Freiburg are on a seven-game winning streak, including all three league matches this term, and top the Bundesliga table.
M6 Brighton vs Arsenal: Brighton have won five of last eight matches and Arsenal are on a six-game winning streak. Arsenal top the EPL log with 12 points, five more than Brighton in fourth.
M7 Everton vs Ipswich Town: Everton are unbeaten in last seven games and Ipswich have won seven of last nine. Level on six points in eighth and ninth places respectively in EPL with Everton having the better goal difference.
M8 Newcastle United vs Hull City: Newcastle unbeaten in last six games and newly promoted Hull undefeated in nine of last 10. Hull are fourth and three points ahead of their rivals in the EPL table.
M9 Polokwane City vs AmaZulu: Polokwane winless in last six games whereas AmaZulu have won six of last 10. AmaZulu are third with 13 points, six ahead of Polokwane in eighth, and won the last meeting between them 1-0 away in March.
M10 Nottingham Forest vs Coventry City: Forest unbeaten in last three, while newly promoted Coventry are battling in the top flight and after four games have no points and are yet to score.

M1 Bournemouth vs Liverpool: The third of three R200,000-added Soccer 10 pools through the weekend and a big pool is guaranteed. Liverpool have a win and three draws from four league games this term and Bournemouth have three draws from their four. Bournemouth won last meeting 3-2 at home in January but Liverpool have won 13 of last 15 meetings.
M2 Frosinone vs Como: Como are third in Italy’s Serie A second with 10 points, three more than Frosinone in seventh. Good start by Como, but newly promoted Frosinone are doing better than expected.
M3 Golden Arrows vs Kaizer Chiefs: Chiefs unbeaten in last five PSL games, winning twice, while Arrows have a win and three draws. Chiefs are fourth on log with 12 points, five more than Arrows in seventh. Last meeting Arrows won 1-0, but in last 15 clashes each has seven wins.
M4 Leeds United vs Crystal Palace: Leeds are third on EPL log with eight points from five games, while Palace are 16th with three points. Last meeting ended 0-0.
M5 Manchester City vs Sunderland: City have won all four league games this season, while Sunderland have not started as well as last season and have four points. Last meeting ended 0-0 draw in January.
M6 Marumo Gallants vs Orlando Pirates: Pirates unbeaten in last 11 games and second on Betway Premiership log with 16 points, while Gallants are last with only two points. Pirates won last meeting 3-0 and lead head-to-head win tally eight-five.
M7 Milford vs Durban City: Milford have made a fair start in the top flight and are fifth with 11 points, five more than City who were unbeaten in six games in all competitions before losing to Pirates midweek.
M8 Parma vs Genoa: Both are winless in four Serie A games this season and are in the league-table basement. Last meeting ended 0-0 in January.
M9 Bayer Leverkusen vs RB Leipzig: Leverkusen have won seven of last 10 games and beat Leipzig 4-1 in May. But they have four points from three league games this season and are two points behind Leipzig (fifth) on the Bundesliga table. In last 15 meetings Leverkusen have six wins to Leipzig’s five.
M10 Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid: Big derby. Real Madrid have won five of six LaLiga matches this season and are second on the table, two points ahead of Atletico in fifth. Real Madrid won last meeting 3-2, their sixth win to Atletico’s five in their last 15 meetings.
