TAB WEEKEND SOCCER HIGHLIGHTS: 16 – 18 OCTOBER 2026
CHANCES APLENTY TO LAND A BIG PAYOUT
Opportunities abound for TAB football customers to score a big win this weekend and the best of them are cash-added Soccer 10 bets this Friday and Saturday, and Sunday’s R2-million carryover Soccer 13 which is set to total R6 million. Plus there’s a guaranteed R16-million pot in the event of one outright winner of Saturday’s Soccer 13, as well as three other carryover pools.
SOCCER 10 SET TO DELIVER A BIG PAYOUT
Tonight’s cash-boosted Soccer 10 is challenging and it looks pretty nigh certain that the pool will deliver a substantial payout. All the games look likely to be closely contested and opting for draws in most may be the best play, although it may pay to gamble on home wins for Heerenveen and Frosinone.
Several Saturday matches look easier to predict. Orlando Pirates never really hit top gear against Sundowns in last weekend’s MTN8 final in Durban, but they should get back to winning ways in an away African Champions League clash with Namibian outfit African Stars.
There are five English Premier League matches on the menu and they look competitive with the exception of the Manchester City-Ipswich clash. Ipswich have done better than expected in their return to the top flight, winning three of six league games this season, but look set to battle against City.
The EPL log-leaders were cleaned up by PSG in a Champions League clash midweek, going down 4-2 after being 3-0 behind little more than 30 minutes into the contest.
But they played better than the bare result suggests and their cause was not helped by goalie Gianluigi Donnarumma, who should have saved one if not two of the goals they conceded.
It could also pay to count on a Brentford to win at home against Liverpool who have not looked convincing this season. Brentford have made a flying start to the new campaign with four draws and two wins, including a 3-0 demolition of Chelsea.
In the English Championship on Saturday home wins for all of Norwich, Southampton, West Brom and especially Wrexham look on the cards.
LEEDS MAY ADD TO MANCHESTER UNITED’S WOES
Sunday’s top bankers are an away win for Arsenal and a home victory for Bayer Leverkusen – and Leeds United will fancy their chances of adding to Manchester United’s woes when the Red Devils come to visit.
Michael Carrick’s United side have started the new campaign in dismal fashion. Carrick certainly earned his new two-year contract after taking over in January and turning United’s fortunes around. But with United winning just one of their first six EPL matches, losing at home to Brighton in the third round of the Carabao Cup and then being put to the sword by Atletico midweek, the pressure is mounting on the former England and United midfielder.
A visit to Leeds in a game with plenty of history represents a chance for United to halt the slide, but Daniel Farke’s side have made a good start to the season and will be confident of sinking United.
Leeds lost 2-1 to Arsenal in the league last weekend, but they gave the Gunners a big scare and that was their first loss in the EPL this season. And Farke’s side have yet to lose at Elland Road, drawing with Brentford and Crystal Palace, either side of thumping Newcastle 4-1.
