TAB CASINO ALGOA CUP HEADLINES FAIRVIEW’S FEATURE DAY AS KONICA MINOLTA PARTNERS WITH 4RACING

The final fields have been declared for 2026 Algoa Cup Day at TAB Fairview
Racecourse on Sunday, 18 October, with the historic TAB Casino Algoa Cup headlining a programme that welcomes Konica Minolta as a new sponsor to Eastern Cape racing.

The Algoa Cup traces its origins to 1920 and remains one of the most prestigious races on the Eastern Cape calendar. First won by Woodcutter, its honour roll features an impressive collection of champions, including Dunford, winner of the 2005 Vodacom Durban July and Hill Fifty Four, who claimed the 2014 J&B Met.

The race has proved a very happy hunting ground for raiding trainers, with visitors claiming the honours from 2010 to 2023. Jacques Strydom-trained Firealley broke the drought and scored a hometown win in 2024 and
Zatara Magic from the Smith Stable kept the silverware at home in 2025.

The 2026 renewal, to be run as the TAB Casino Algoa Cup, promises another compelling contest, with Zatara Magic back to defend his title.

Supporting the headline event is the Konica Minolta SA Stakes (Listed), a 1600m contest for three-year-olds. Formerly known as the ROA Stakes, the race welcomes new sponsor Konica Minolta.
