Prince looks heavenly in the Cape

Once again, we have a tricky midweek card, and this Tuesday the nine-race card will take place at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

However, one always tries to find a banker at the meeting, and it is usually worth going with an in-form team.

With that in mind, perhaps Candice Bass and Aldo Domeyer might just be that team, and they could be the one’s to beat in Race 8, a D Stakes over 1800m where they send out Heavenly Prince.

This three-year-old son of Heavenly Blue is lightly raced, having only run nine times, and has notched up two wins, both of them coming in his last three races following a rest. Coming back from that break on 18 March, the gelding shed his maiden in a race over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville.

He then contested a race over 1800m at Kenilworth exactly a month later and finished fourth, beaten 5.75 lengths into fourth place by Backinthefastlane at level weights.

However, another month later Heavenly Prince, now 2.5kg better off, reversed the form in no uncertain manner, beating Backinthefastlane by 0.75 lengths over the same course and distance.

What is more significant about that win was that it was in yielding going, and with the track likely to be on the soft side, the conditions are likely to suit.

This time he will race on the Winter track and that could suit Heavenly Prince even more as he like to race not far off the pace. He does carry 62.5kg and will have Domeyer up for the first time.
