PALMER’S GLORIOUS GAME CAN REMAIN UNBEATEN

By Josh Luckhurst, Press Association

Glorious Game can continue the unbeaten start to her career when taking Listed honours in the Empress Fillies’ Stakes at Newmarket.

Hugo Palmer’s charge made an impressive debut at Windsor earlier this month, winning by a length and a half ahead of Motown Filly, who she reopposes on the July course.

The daughter of Pinatubo is a half-sister to 2024 Irish Derby fourth Matsuri and faces some interesting types including What A Girl Wants, who  makes a quick return following her run in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot last week, but Glorious Game gets the nod this time.

Silver Ghost is a consistent sort who relishes Newmarket and she should go well once again in the It’s Racing Staff Week Handicap for Emma Lavelle.

Seven of her 14 career starts have come at Flat racing’s HQ, with three of those over the July course as a juvenile.

She never finished outside of the first three in those and she should build on her two placed efforts on the Rowley Mile from her two four-year-old appearances this season.

Eternal Force should get back to winning ways for William Haggas in the Jenningsbet In Scarborough Handicap at Newcastle.

He rattled off a hat-trick in the second half of last season before he was put away to protect his mark.

Seventh on his reappearance in the Lincoln at Doncaster in March, he returned to form when going down by a nose to Diego Ventura at Hamilton earlier this month.

A first start on the all-weather with top-weight asks questions, but the Somerville Lodge handler is in fine fettle and Eternal Force should be in the mix once again.

Treble Tee can also defy top weight to take the Jenningsbet In Kippax Seaton Delaval Handicap for Simon and Ed Crisford.

The lightly-raced four-year-old has only made one appearance this season, coming home last of five runners in a hot Doncaster Mile Stakes in March.

There can be excuses following his winter break and with cut in the ground – his best three performances, including his last victory, came on a sounder surface.

An ease in grade is another positive for the Persian King gelding and he should get his campaign up and running on the north-east synthetics.

Kevin Ryan will hope switching to the Tapeta can improve big-money buy Sir Sirius in the Newcastle Airport Novice Stakes.

Bought for 350,000 guineas as yearling, the Starman colt has finished in midfield on both turf starts and the change in surface could be just what Sir Sirius needs.

There is a Royal entry in the opener at Nottingham with Food For Thought leading the way in the three-runner Happy Retirement Martin Stoneman Fillies’ Novice Stakes.

Bred and owned by King Charles III, the Ralph Beckett-trained three-year-old hit the post with a runner-up finish over a mile at Yarmouth last October and she should appreciate this step up in trip.

Pam Sly’s Fenlander will be targeting a hat-trick in the Neigh More Early Starts For Martin Stoneman Handicap.

Eye Of Dubai tackles five furlongs for the first time in his 26-race career in Hamilton’s Indigo Unified Comms Handicap feature.

Sean and John Quinn’s five-year-old has almost exclusively run over six furlongs during his career, but he drops in class as well as trip in Scotland, while he is only 1lb higher than his last winning mark so it is all pointing in the right direction for the son of Havana Grey

At Leicester, George Boughey’s Pentonville can complete a hat-trick of  victories in nine days in the Dr T B Connors Memorial Handicap, with Billy Loughnane aboard and in the silks of the late Sheikh Mohammed Obaid – the same combination as brilliant 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes winner Bow Echo.
