Greeff, Fourie to get back in the limelight

The one advantage of the Polytrack becoming an almost permanent fixture for racing in Gqeberha, is that we now have some really extensive form on the surface.

Once again, the meeting originally scheduled for the turf on Friday was moved to the Polytrack, but at least it happened early in the week.

And once again, we will be looking to Alan Greeff and Richard Fourie to provide us with a couple of winners.

Rush Green looks the best of the Greeff-trained and Fourie-ridden runners at this meeting, but they do have many other chances of scoring.

Gimmethegreenlight colt Rush Green has raced just three times, and after just being touched off in his debut run over 1200m, he came back to notch up his first victory and that was over 1400m.

He was then given a break and was out for around three-and-a-half months. He returned last month to contest a MR 82 Handicap, again over 1400m. However, he was caught too far out of his ground on his return and ended up running third, beaten just 1.50 lengths.

Interestingly, he has produced the fastest 400m to finish in all three of his starts so it is all about getting the timing right.

Fourie didn’t ride him last time but will be back aboard this time in Race 4, a MR 80 Handicap over 1400m. The good news is that all three of his runs have been on the Polytrack so we know he will have no problem with the surface.

Rush Green takes on seven rivals and is not well drawn in stall No 6, but he will strip fitter and has demonstrated he can quicken up very nicely.
