Greeff, Fortune double stands out at Fairview

it has been a busy weekend for racing in Gqeberha as with the Women’s Day holiday extending into Monday, there will be a second meeting on the Polytrack where the holiday can be enjoyed, celebrating the roles women have played in South African racing.

Monday’s meeting is on the Polytrack and there appears to be two strong bankers on the card. The first comes up in Race 5, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1200m, where Greeff sends out Spirit Of Nical. Originally trained by James Crawford in the Western Cape, the four-year-old Vercingetorix filly has had one run on the Polytrack at Fairview where she was beaten 0.25 lengths into second place by Remind Me Of You.

That run should have brought her on well and with Fortune up she stands out in her race.

Andrew Fortune will replace regular rider Richard Fourie.

The same partnership will team up in Race 7, a Middle Stakes over 1600m, with Kleinzee. This mare is unbeaten in five starts on the Polytrack since moving to Greeff, and the manner of her last victory and the conditions of this race should see her make it six out of six.
