Dream Composer to hit the right notes at Windsor

Dream Composer takes a fair drop in class for the in-form Tony Carroll in the Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap at Windsor on Monday and can return to winning ways.

Last time out the eight-year-old was running in the fastest 1000m contest of the season in the Epsom Dash and was not disgraced.

He finished 3 lengths behind winner Arklow Lad in seventh but actually fared best of those from a single figure stall.

Dropped 1lb by the assessor and eased in grade, Dream Composer must have a good chance of registering a second win in just four starts for the impressive Carroll, who also has a squeak in the opening apprentice handicap with Cape Toronada.

The latter was unlucky in-running at Bath last month, before going close over this course and distance and then making no mistake at Brighton.

House Of Medici is another to be with at the Thameside track, where he goes in the Track Radio On Digital & Dab Restricted Novice Stakes.

Unraced at two, Andrew Balding’s three-year-old was a beaten favourite first time at Kempton but is entitled to benefit for both the experience and the step up to 3000m.

Mereside Princess can bring up her hat-trick in the Future Ticketing Handicap at Musselburgh.

David and Nicola Barron’s filly went winless in her first 12 races before breaking her duck at Carlisle from a basement mark of 49.

She then absolutely bolted up from 4lb higher over the same course and distance she faces here.

Now up another 9lb, life will be tougher again – but when fillies get on a roll it is usually worth sticking with them.

Ed Bethell’s Welbury has been in good form of late and looks a safe proposition in the Stand In What You Stand For Handicap.

Winner of a Southwell novice event in March, he was second in his first handicap off 72 and filled the same spot last time out at Hamilton in first-time cheekpieces.

It is not ideal that he keeps creeping up the weights for getting beaten but he remains on good terms with himself.

Karl Burke’s Minzelle was sent off a strong favourite on her debut at Haydock but had to settle for third behind the classy Sea Venture.

The Minzaal filly cost 450,000 guineas so clearly looked the part but her sire’s progeny have just taken a little bit of time to come to hand.

Burke has few peers when it comes to juveniles, however, and she can be expected to know a lot more about the game now.

She reappears 31 days after her debut in the British EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Catterick and should oblige. – Press Association
