Cowboy Country to find his range again

From the first time he made an appearance on a racetrack, Cowboy Country tended to find betting support.

The Tony Rivalland-trained son of The United States made his appearance in September last year over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville in September last year. And from an opening call of 5-1 he was the subject of his first betting coup, and by the time of the start had shortened in to 14-10.

With Jabu Jacobs in the irons, Cowboy County delivered the goods and ran out a comfortable 1.20-length winner over Bombardier Girl.

He raced on five further occasions, regularly finding betting support, but was unable to win again.

Well, at least until he was gelded.

Coming back from a break after that operation on 22 July, Cowboy Country landed another “old fashion betting coup” at HWB Scottsville when he was backed in from 16-1 to 4-1.

Once again is was left to Jacobs and as was the case last year, he made no mistake, timing his run to perfection and kicking away to land the coup with the minimum of fuss.

Cowboy Country makes another appearance at the same course on Sunday in Race 5, a Middle Stakes over 1200m. This time Jacobs has been replaced by Serino Moodley

He is taking on stronger this time around but could still be better than rated and looks set to follow up.
