Aperoll time at Sandown

By Josh Luckhurst, Press Association

Aperoll can spritz up her budgeoning reputation by landing Sandown’s feature in the European Bloodstock News EBF Star Stakes for Richard Hannon.

The Ghaiyyath filly made a winning start to her career at Newbury before stepping up to Listed company at Royal Ascot when finishing third behind Nola Soul in the Chesham Stakes.

That form has been franked by Pikachu, who was fifth at the Royal meeting, finishing third in the Group Two Superlative Stakes at Newmarket on his next appearance earlier this month.

Hannon has not won this race since Tajaanus’ triumph in 2017 and Aperoll can look at Group territory with a strong performance at the Esher venue.

My Ballyquinn can continue his recent rich vein of form in the George Lindon-Travers Memorial Handicap.

David O’Meara’s three-year-old has already tasted victory at the mile-and-six-furlong distance already following his triumph at York last month.

His form figures read two wins and a second since May and a third success in four starts could well be on the cards in the three-runner race.

Big-spending Wathnan Racing have a 700,000 guineas purchase United Authority making his debut for Ralph Beckett in the Martin Densham & Peter Deal Memorial British EBF Maiden Stakes and as there are Group One winners in his pedigree, hopes are high he can get off to a flyer.

Flying Pirate hopes to get back on the winning trend in the opening BetVictor Nursery Handicap at Newbury.

Eve Johnson Houghton’s juvenile followed in the hoofprints of stablemate Zavateri by winning the same Salisbury maiden on debut in June, but he was unsettled when returning to the Wiltshire venue, unseating Charlie Bishop in the paddock before finishing third.

The Blackbeard colt has been gelded since and that should sharpen Flying Pirate up enough to get back on track.

Lorraine could make a winning debut for John and Thady Gosden in the Pump Technology Services Jung Training Day EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes.

Bred and owned by Juddmonte, the full-sister of Publish starts over six and a half furlongs and although she should eventually go over further, this seems the right place to begin.

At Doncaster, Narrjoo can maintain Simon and Ed Crisford’s brilliant track record with juveniles when making his debut in the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes.

The Crisfords have a 50 per cent strike-rate with two-year-olds this season and the Ten Sovereigns colt could be the next cab off the Gainsborough Stables conveyor belt at Town Moor.

In the Doncaster Supports Autism In Racing EBF Novice Stakes, Round The Table should replicate his dominant Ffos Las display for Tom Clover.

Anchiano hopes to repeat his course and distance triumph last time out at Yarmouth in the Free Digital Racecard At Raceday-Ready.com Novice Stakes.

George Scott’s two-year-old son of Acclamation was a half-length winner earlier this month and the booking of Tom Marquand is another positive.

Tony Coyle and Kaine Wood’s Rlasthope has placed in two valuable races this season so should go one better on his all-weather debut in the Sky Sports Racing Virgin 512 Restricted Novice Stakes at Southwell.

Beaten only a neck by impressive colt Adonius on his second start at Chester, he was upgraded to third at York and took place honours again in the Woodcote Stakes at Epsom so he sets the standard.
